Further information about resources for students with disabilities and accessible student services

  • Student Disability Center: Provides coordination of specialized academic support services and promotes independence and integrated participation in campus life for students with disabilities.
  • Student Academic Success Center (SASC): A multi-program Student Affairs department providing essential services, programs, and information for UC Davis students.
  • Housing Accommodations: UC Davis Student Housing attempts to honor all requests for special accommodations through our Special Accommodation process. There are five types of Special Accommodations: Physical/Mobility Related, Service Animal, Dietary Needs, Emotional Support Animal, and Other (health, medical, emotional related, etc.).
  • Student Health and Counseling Services: The mission of Student Health and Counseling Services is to enhance the physical and mental health of students in order to help them achieve academic success, personal development and lifelong wellness by providing an integrated program of quality, accessible, cost sensitive and confidential healthcare services.
  • The Center for Accessible Technologies (CAT): houses electronic resources (including hardware and software) for faculty, students, and staff with disabilities in a centralized location at Shields Library.
  • Mobility Assistance Shuttle: provides shuttle service to current UC Davis students, faculty, and staff with documented disabilities (temporary or permanent).
  • Remote Services: Working with the Student Disability Center, students can be approved for remote accommodations. These types of situations are approved on a case by case basis and require a meeting with a Specialist to discuss the types of accommodations required. If approved, a meeting to install, configure and demonstrate the technology will take place with the SDC's Accessible Technology Analyst. The SDC can work with overseas Higher Ed units within the Study Abroad program to ensure accommodations are provided to students even while studying abroad! Students are required to meet with the Study Abroad Program Manager and the SDC to discuss what accommodations are needed.
  • Technology Services: Access to technology is essential for students, faculty and staff. Most computer labs on the UC Davis campus are equipped with accessible and adaptable computer software and hardware. In addition, the Center for Accessible Technologies (CAT Lab)in Shields Library provides additional accessible work stations and adaptive technology. Students with concerns or questions about adaptive technology should contact the SDC. Take home software for PC, Mac and iOS are available to students at no cost while attending courses at UC Davis. Staff and faculty who need adaptive technology to perform the essential functions of their jobs should discuss those needs with their Department Chair or supervisor. Disability Management Services can provide additional assistance where adaptive technology is related to a request for reasonable accommodation.

Students who have questions, concerns, or complaints related to suspected discrimination on the basis of disability or failure to accommodate are encouraged to contact the SDC.  Students may also consult with Student Judicial Affairs, the Office of Graduate Studies, or the ADA Compliance Officer about their concerns or to obtain information about filing a formal complaint.
